The Erie Health Center and Evanston Family Health Center work with ROR. Medical personnel pass out the books to distract the children during appointments. The child then takes the book home with him/her/them. ROR is seeking donations of NEW (Think Covid), culturally appropriate books for children ages 6 months to 5 years, both in English and in Spanish. Guidance on Purchasing Books Please purchase a book or multiple books from the Master List. See this master list for a compiled list from ROR; Evanston Public Library anti-racism recommendations; NY Times for children and pbs.org Race & Diversity. Books may be purchased from Amazon and sent to the Clubhouse, but we especially encourage purchase from our local bookstores. Booked (focus on Children’s books; 506 Main St, 847-701-5707) has agreed to give back 15% to WCE for each book purchased. Here is a link to a Booked website dedicated to our Event for easy ordering (with apologies for the “womens” misspelling). Booked also agreed to put a sign in their front window & promote our event on their social media sites. Bookends & Beginnings (1712 Sherman Ave, 224-999-7722) Both stores were given advance copies of the Master List. Delivery/Drop Off You may deliver directly to the Clubhouse (vestibule container) or to Jane Liechty’s unlocked front porch (2333 Brown Ave, Evanston, near Haven Jr High). If you prefer a pick up, contact Jane for arrangements. You may also have your “Booked” store purchase delivered to the store and they will deliver to us.
