Book Buzz
Join us for an evening's discussion of Yaa Gyasi's best-selling novel Homegoing. The book follows the parallel path of two half sisters born in different African villages in eighteenth century Ghana and their descendants through eight generations. The book takes the reader from the Gold Coast of Africa to the plantations of Mississippi, from the American Civil War to Jazz Age Harlem. The book illuminates slavery's troubled legacy...both for those who were ripped from their homes and for those who stayed. The evening's discussion leader will be Phebe Tinker.
