Please join us for the 2025 Spring Benefit

“Unlocking Doors to the Past, Opening Doors for a Better Future”

Saturday, May 3rd 6:00-9:30 PM

WCE Clubhouse, 1702 Chicago Ave

Music by Chris Greene Quartet

Cocktail Attire

The evening will raise funds for Shorefront Legacy Center. Shorefront is a community-based archival institution dedicated to illuminating the rich tapestry of Black history in Evanston and on Chicago’s North Shore.

Founded on the three core principles — Collect, Preserve, and Educate — Shorefront strives to ensure that Black history is documented, accessible, and deeply woven into the broader historical narrative.

Proceeds from the Spring Benefit will support the

Intergenerational Interview Project

The eight-week program will bring together local high school students and recipients of the City of Evanston’s historic local reparations fund. Guided by historians and journalists, students will gain the skills to conduct oral history interviews and immerse themselves in the elders’ personal stories that have not been comprehensively documented. This project provides a platform for their voices, illuminating the lived experiences behind the headlines. It hopes to ensure that future generations will need not repeat the far too frequent refrain of: “I did not know…”.
